Is Improv as fun as it looks? Yes, it is!

And the Improv for Families workshops are a great way to get your first taste of the fun.

Push Comedy Theater and Family in Focus® are dedicated to sharing the ideas, spirit and skill-building tools of improv with all of the 757. Our family workshops are high-fun, low-stress classes designed to show you how YOU can create spontaneous, off-the-cuff scenes and relationships that directly apply to your off-stage lives.

Our enthusiastic and friendly instructors work to make sure everyone is able to participate in a playful and trusting atmosphere.

One registration per family -- please list names/ages of who to expect so we have the appropriate staffing and space

What you'll get:

  • Admission to the Improv for Resilience workshop on Saturday, Aug 23 at 1pm EDT.
  • This 2.5 hour workshop is specifically created for children ages 6-12 (+/- based on your family's interest and needs) to learn and practice social-emotional skills about embracing who they uniquely are, the power we uniquely have to decide what others' words and actions mean, and how to keep others from hurting your feelings. Instead of focusing on the bully as in typical anti-bullying campaigns, we will first acknowledge that people say and do things that we don't always like (aka, life: YES), and then what to do next (AND). You'll find that we are building strength from within, rather than having reactive scenes out of Mean Girls.
  • Children are to be accompanied by an adult/parent aged 18 or older who will stay for the workshop (learn & play too!).
  • This is an experiential class: you're invited to play, explore, try on new tools & games. No pressure.
  • Hosted by Wendy Schofer, MD - fun-loving pediatrician, improv comedian and social-skills whisperer for the whole family.
  • There's a magic in comedy: it's not performing, it's exploration. We will play with emotions and relationships in non-icky ways!
  • Fun, play, connection and... find out how improv supports the health, development & relationships of your whole family.

Disclaimer: So that thing about Wendy being an MD. Yeah, she is a pediatrician who gets kids, families and the awesomeness of being our quirky selves (without labels of diagnoses). And here, she's just known as Wendy. That's because while Wendy and Family in Focus® discuss mental, emotional and physical health, this is for educational & entertainment purposes only. This is not medical care and does not replace the important relationship you have with your physician. Please continue your regular care and tell your doc to come out and play with Family in Focus®!
